At school Ryder’s class has started using a reading program
called Lexia that allows students to move through at the own pace and work on
what they need to work on individually.
Ryder has taken this program as a personal challenge and he wants to
work on it every day at home so he can move through and “beat the game” so to
speak. He is so excited every time he
gets a certificate for moving to the next level.
He and Janda have fired up our new PlayStation4 and began
playing a new free game called World of Tanks.
It’s a really cool WW2 era game where each player is a tank and they
fight against each other on teams. At
first Ryder was just watching Janda play, but very quickly he jumped in
himself.
Ryder has continued playing basketball this month and he has
a lot of fun with that. His dribbling
skills are getting much better and he’s starting to make more baskets. Mostly he likes running around and playing
with the other kids. There aren’t any
games at this level, just lots of different drills and skill work, so it’s a
lot of fun with no pressure to win or lose.
Ryder has been enjoying playing the games that they got for
Christmas. He especially enjoys winning
these games and he definitely doesn’t enjoy losing. Most of the time, he is just disappointed
when he loses, but sometimes he does get very upset and stop playing,
especially with a game like Chutes and Ladders, where the element of chance can
send you right back to the beginning of the game board!
Lately it seems like Ryder has been getting pickier and
pickier. It seems like there are more
things than before that he doesn’t like and there are things that he definitely
liked and now will not eat. I can make
him something one week and he loves it but when I make it again the next week
he’ll tell me that he hates it and never ever liked it! It’s mostly challenging at dinner time, he
likes most of the breakfast and lunch choices, but his has a lot of opinions
about the dinners that I work so hard to make!
Napping by the fire
A nice smile for Mommy
Dribbling the basketball
Enjoying his Hoodsie, except for the brain freeze
