4 Years + 2 months! (February 2019)

So the sleepovers are back on!  Vivi is back on board with sleepovers, although now each time we have to play Rock, Paper, Scissors to work out the sleepover plans.  That can turn contentious because Vivi doesn’t quite understand that you can’t just wait for the other person to shoot and then play the hand that will beat them.  They have to shoot back-to-back and then I announce who has won.

Ryder has started reading and Vivien wants to be just like him.  Everywhere she sees a letter, she reads it out and she likes to read to us the books that she knows by heart.  Ryder actually has tried to help her learn to read by doing the things that he does in class with her.  Also, whenever Ryder is on Lexia, Vivi has to be on the tablet.  We have the PBS app, which has a bunch of games that she can play.  She needs a little help getting it set up, but then she can do it pretty independently.

It was a bit of a challenge doing the Valentine’s Day cards for school again this year.  It takes a lot more stamina than she has yet to write so many names!  Our Valentine cards had little squishies taped to them, so she loved picking the squishy and sticking it on the card, but she didn’t love copying all the names.  The week of Valentine’s Day, I bought a bouquet of white carnations and we did a little dying project with them, which Vivi loved.  I split up the bouquet and they each got a few vases of flowers to color.  Anything with food coloring is a huge hit around here and this was no different.  Vivi really liked following along with their progress all week. As a bonus, the project ended up being a really pretty decoration.

We haven’t had that much winter weather around here yet, which was disappointing to the kids.  One night we were expecting a small storm, so we got everything done early so that when it got here and went right out to enjoy the weather!  Vivi had a great time playing in the snow in the dark, making angels, throwing snowballs and taking a little walk.  It mostly melted by morning, so it was a good thing we went out!
