The big thing this month for Ryder was t-ball. Ryder wasn’t sure if he would like t-ball, so
it took some time for him to decide to join, but one of the deciding factors
was that he would have the same coach from basketball, so ultimately he decided
yes. Games and practices don’t start
until May, but there was the Little League parade the last weekend in
April. Ryder got his t-shirt and team
hat and he was ready! He knew a couple
of his teammates from school and a couple from basketball, so he was excited at
the parade. He had a great time walking
from Burnham’s Field to O’Malley and an even better time goofing around with
the kids on his team. After he got his
uniform and participated in the parade, he was very happy to be doing t-ball!
We went swimming at the Marina a couple of times this month
and Ryder loves it. He’s getting so much
better at swimming and he really loves doing tricks in the water. He doesn’t know any of the technical strokes
yet, but he can swim from one place to another quite well. He loves jumping in or being thrown in to the
water and it doesn’t bother him to go under at all anymore. He has been doing handstands and somersaults
in the water too, lately! He gets so
excited when he figures out a new trick!
Ryder can be a huge perfectionist. When the thing that he is working on doesn’t
go how he has planned, he can get very upset.
Sometimes it doesn’t faze him, but other times it is a very big deal to
him. If he is working on a drawing and
it doesn’t turn out how he envisioned, he will crumple it up, announce that he
is a terrible artist and say he shouldn’t draw anymore. Luckily, it blows over quickly once he gets
over the disappointment and he is usually back at it after a short time.
Now that Ryder can read very well, it means that he can write much better now too. Lately he has taken to writing notes about what he is thinking. Sometimes he writes them to people and others he just writes them to himself. Daddy did something that upset him, so Ryder wrote him a note after he went to work and left it on his desk for him to read when he got home.
